Global Yume

While waiting for going home, I am trying to post another one about my last weekend. Yes! I did have my first experience in joining global meeting. Global meeting is activity that brings all international students or some to interact and to introduce our cultures. Last time, I joined global meeting or global Yume in volunteering activities. We taught elementary and junior high school students in Higashinaruse-mura village. It was my first time. The concept is that we come and teach the students to communicate in English. I have lots of impressions about it, but I don't think so that one post can cover all stories. I even needed more than 3 hours to talk about it to my man. It is very nice experiences and unforgettable to me. Personally, this activities taught me many new things. I never expected before that I will have such kind activities during my classes here.

What did I do there? I and friends taught junior high school student in English conversation and presentation. I was belong to group 5. First impression from them, they were very shy. I only got one or two words from them. It is normal for Japanese people, but don't give up. I was trying to make friend with them and communicating to them openly. I tried to bring them in English conversation by asking some short questions to each of them in group while lunch or dinner. In other time, I tried to speak with others groups. They are very nice girls and boys. Oh ya, they are now in 3rd grade students of junior high school. Most of them are fourteen to fifteen years old! I was remembering at that age, I was senior high school. It looked that I was growing too fast, may be.

Building their confidence to speak English is not as easy as seen. They have very good English, but not quite confidence to talk with it. This is common problem in every world. At least, they don't insult their friend while trying to speak English. They respected each others and supported. We had some activities in this global meeting. We didn't have only discussing in groups, but also culture exchanging, playing park golf and celebrating Hanabi. I am very happy until now. I don't talk too much about it now. I will post more after having much time.

Here I attached some photos in representing me and my groups, Group 5. Group 5 is me, Rane, Kana, Ayane, Kai and Kenzuke. They are very nice and strong one. I will not forget their dreams.

Instructions in park golf. It was first time to have park golf. We had each mentor in groups, at least it was for us, the international students. All students have classes in park golf.
